How pricing works

Transparent tiers. No hidden charges. Cancel anytime.

The CLI is genuinely free. Open source, MIT licensed, npm-installable. It works on every git repo without any account or network access. The TUI dashboard, all 17 commands, AI session tracking via the Claude Code plugin — all free, forever.

$9/mo Pro Cloud is what unlocks the cloud-side features. AI-generated weekly digests, standup & retro generation, the public profile at worktale.dev/{you}, cross-repo timeline, and client-ready exports. These exist because they require AI inference cost and hosting — both real expenses for a one-person company.

$249 lifetime is for the first 100 supporters. You take a small bet on Worktale being around in 5 years; in exchange you get every Pro feature forever and a founding badge. When the 100 spots are gone, the lifetime tier closes and Pro is monthly only.

Teams isn’t built yet. The team substrate (org accounts, RBAC, admin dashboards, SSO) is real engineering — weeks of work. Joining the waitlist is the signal we need to prioritize it. When 50+ teams are on the list, we ship it. Until then, all team-tier copy here is preview, not promise.

FAQ

Can I use Worktale without paying?

Yes. The CLI does everything locally and is free forever. You only pay if you want the cloud sync, public profile, AI weekly digests, or client-summary exports.

What does the lifetime tier actually include?

Every Pro Cloud feature, forever. New features added to Pro are also included for lifetime members. Limited to the first 100 buyers because the underlying AI inference cost is real. Once 100 lifetime spots sell, that tier closes permanently.

What happens if I cancel?

Your local CLI keeps working forever. Your data stays on your machine in the SQLite database at ~/.worktale/data.db. Cloud-side features stop — but your data was never trapped on the cloud to begin with.

Why isn’t Stripe checkout live yet?

Stripe webhook handlers are wired into the cloud backend, but the checkout flow is still rolling out. Joining the early-access list now means you get the first checkout email when it goes live this month. No payment until then; nothing charged on signup.

Do I need a credit card to try Worktale?

No. The CLI installs from npm with no signup. The desktop app is a free download. Cloud accounts at worktale.dev are also free during the open beta — payment only kicks in when you pick a paid tier.

What about teams & agencies?

The team tier is on the waitlist — substrate (org accounts, RBAC, admin dashboards) isn’t built yet. Sign up if you’d use it; we’ll prioritize when 50+ teams have raised hands. In the meantime, every team member can use Pro Cloud individually.

Is the CLI really MIT-licensed?

Yes — github.com/worktale/worktale-cli. Fork it, contribute, or self-host. The cloud backend is a separate codebase used to power the worktale.dev side.

Start with the free CLI.

Upgrade when you want the cloud features. Or never — the CLI does plenty on its own.
